Cottingley Community Centre is a small community centre based in Cottingley, near Bradford, that was purpose built in 2008. The centre has a full industrial kitchen which has been operated as cafe and is used by all manner of community groups. It is hoped to open the cafe as a pay as you feel cafe supported by the local food bank and local Aldi. It will be staffed by two different educational groups, one is Beechcliffe special school with their post 16 supported employment students and the other is Bradford College with their assisted living and supported employment students. Both are groups of young adults with learning difficulties.
"After ten years of almost constant use our appliances are now in need of repair. The pay-as-you feel cafe would support a disadvantaged community and disadvantaged adults with routes to employment and affordable food options. We give out on average 50 tokens to households for the food bank per week and desperately want to support the community further in this by teaching them about donated food, food waste and providing an affordable initiative that would benefit all involved. We cannot do it with our current equipment and would love to have some new items to help push the cafe forward."
