Induction

Stoves induction technology

Smarter, faster, safer, greener.

How does induction work?

Induction works by heating the pan rather than the hob, creating a smarter, faster, safer, and greener way to cook.

When a compatible pan is placed on an induction hob, it completes a magnetic circuit below the hob's surface, this creates energy within the pan's base, which in turn heats the pan.
As induction exclusively heats the pan and not the zoned area, no energy is wasted.
Induction gives you outstanding low-heat performance and increased control making it ideal for delicate sauces, as well as effortlessly melting chocolate directly in the pan.

Additionally, an induction hob can boil water 30% faster than a ceramic hob and it is twice as fast as a gas hob.

What are the benefits of induction?

Smarter

• Induction uses electromagnetic energy to create a magnetic field, transferring heat directly to the base of the cookware.

• FreedomFlex™ zoneless induction technology can recall the power level of any pan you move.

• Induction offers quick response to power changes; when turned off, power instantly reduces for enhanced control and efficiency.

Faster

• Induction is nearly twice as fast as a gas hob and 30% faster than ceramic.

• You have the option of power boost which draws additional power when required – perfect for wok cooking.

Safer

• If left unattended for a long period, all cook zones will automatically turn off.

• The surface of an induction hob remains relatively cool during use as the heat is generated directly into the base of the cookware.

• Child lock disables all of the hob's controls for added safety.

Greener

• Induction cooking doesn't lose any heat through convection, so it's 30% more efficient than a gas hob and 25% more than a ceramic hob.

• Faster cooking time results in a reduction in energy consumption.

Do I need special pans to use an induction hob?

For the cookware to perform on an induction hob, it must have a magnetic base. Cast iron, enamelled cast iron, and many types of stainless-steel cookware are all induction compatible.

Your cookware should also have a flat base to ensure a good magnetic connection is made. Cookware with a curved base (like a traditional wok) or with a perforated/patterned base will not perform well, even if they are made from induction compatible material.

Aluminium, copper, glass, non-magnetic stainless-steel or hard-anodised cookware will not work on the hob unless they have an induction plate built into the base. Using poor quality cookware can actually reduce the lifespan of the induction unit and cause faults.

How can I check if my current pans are suitable?

If you want to check that your cookware is suitable there is a simple test you can do. You can place a magnet on the base,  if it sticks then it is suitable to use.

Most manufacturers also incorporate an "induction compatible" symbol on the base of cookware to make it easier to tell.

Useful Cooking Features

With multiple power levels to choose from, you’re always in control with precise and repeatable settings.

Many of our induction hobs feature preset temperatures so you can easily choose the right heat for melting chocolate, keeping food warm or achieving the perfect simmer.

The power boost allows you to temporarily boost the power to a cooking zone by up to 60%. Ideal for bringing water to the boil quickly.

If you need to step away from the hob during cooking, the pause function will cut the power to the cooking zones and pick up where you left off by remembering the settings you were using.

Set minute minders for different cooking zones to let you know when it’s time to turn off the heat.

Link 2 cooking zones together to operate at the same power level giving you added flexibility for oversized or unconventionally shaped cookware.
