Earlier this year we launched a national campaign to call for a standard Made in
Britain marque to be applied to all products manufactured in the UK.
This came after research uncovered widespread confusion amongst consumers about
Made in Britain goods. The findings revealed that half of UK consumers are baffled
when it comes to buying ‘British’, two-thirds (67%) want an official seal of approval
to show products made in Britain and the majority (52%) think British brands should
bring manufacturing back to the UK.
Following this call from the public we launched a national competition amongst UK
university design students and asked them to create a logo which could be used as
a standard marque. We received hundreds of entries but with the help of our judging
panel of industry experts we are now proud to unveil our winning design by Cynthia
Lee from Nottingham University.
To date, the campaign has received national press coverage, backing from prominent
MPs and UK manufacturers and the research findings have even been debated in the
House of Commons.
Now we are calling for all UK manufacturers to support the campaign and British
manufacture by displaying this logo on their websites, marketing material or packaging
- helping make it easier for people to buy British. The image files can be requested
via the form on the right. The logo is available for use by all companies that manufacturer
or produce their products and goods in the UK.
You can also show your support for Made in Britain by downloading the Twibbon to use
on your twitter profile.
